I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this info graphics book from
Harper Collins, it looks fantastic.
The Visual Miscellaneum: A colourful guide to the world's most consequential trivia (or
Information is Beautiful as it will be known in the UK) is the baby of London based author, writer, blogger and designer, David McCandless, a self-confessed fan of,
"anything strange and interesting".
Here are some preview pics from
Information is Beautiful. It's definitely my kind of book - loads of big graphics and very little text.
It was released in the states yesterday and can be bought
here, but in the UK we have to wait until 4 February 2010! It can be pre-ordered
here though.

Thanks for a peek inside - I read about this book over the weekend. Fascinating (and quite beautiful) stuff.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful and very you!!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks brilliant. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteThanx for this tip. There is one more book you might like - 'Data Flow' (2009, Gestalten). It contains lots of beautiful images. If I am not mistaken the 'Data Flow2' will be released in the comming year as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys :)
ReplyDeleteArmina - thanks for the info, I'll check that book out, it sounds good.
The book is very interesting, thanks for showing some pages.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sneak peak of that graphic book. Now that I saw some pages of that book, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in your opinions on the book when you eventually get your hands on it, and whether it provides some useful insight into the principles of data visualisation. I find a lot of the supposed 'amazing' infographics doing the rounds on blogs and Twitter are pretty yet impenetrable, and do nothing to communicate the data better than a simple pie chart would.
ReplyDeleteTo quote Paul Rand, "When form predominates, meaning is blunted. But when content predominates, interest lags." I think a few of these fancy pants designers need reminding of this.
